WebF1 Consulting built a website which would serve an international community of photographers. Two of the key requirements for the site were scalability and usability.In order to provide a very scalable solution WebF1 Consulting built the web site using the latest Microsoft .NET technologies. The site uses many of the .NET features such as database and user control caching.
A comprehensive set of web services has been added to the website which allows developers to create mashup applications using the PhotoPoints engine.
The site went into production after two months of beta testing. In its first week of production, the site served over 6 pages per second, over 6GB of data per day, and over 45 man years per week.
